Frozen Michigan Saskatoons - 2 lb
The saskatoon (Amelanchier alnifolia) is known by many names. You may know it as the serviceberry, shadberry, or juneberry, but no matter what you call it, this delectable blueberry-like "power fruit" is delicious!
A true North American native, the saskatoon grows from Alaska across most of western Canada and down into the western and north central United States.
The saskatoon was an important food source for wildlife, indigenous peoples and the early pioneers, especially during the winter season. Today, saskatoons are still highly prized for making desserts and sauces, much like the blueberries or huckleberries which they closely resemble.
